In the early 21st century, Japanese lawyer Asano Naoya is entrusted by his neurosurgeon girlfriend Zhang Min to bring the elderly Liu He Mei, also known as Qiu Shan Mei, to Nanjing. The plan is to publish her diary, in which she recorded her painful experiences and observations while working in a comfort station during World War II, and to reveal the true history that has been distorted and unknown to the public. However, Zhang Min discovers that Liu He Mei has metal shrapnel in her brain, making surgery too risky, and decides to try hypnotic intervention to treat her amnesia.
